Ribeauvillé

The Trimbach family has been making wine since 1626 and their tradition has been passed surprisingly seamless through the generations despite Alsace’s history of interchanging ownership between France and Germany.  Maison Trimbach is located in the town of Ribeauvillé in the heart of the Alsace wine region.

Jean, Pierre, Anne, and Hubert Trimbach

Today three generations of the Trimbach family work together in producing their wines.  Brothers Pierre and Jean Trimbach (12th generation) handle the operations of the winery.  Their uncle, Hubert (11th generation), remains involved.  Anne, Pierre’s daughter, and Julien, Jean’s son, are now part of the business.  Pierre has been recognized as one of the best white winemakers of the world.  He has built a reputation for his wines made from Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, and Pinot Gris, the only noble varieties permitted within Alsace’s 51 Grands Crus vineyards.

Trimbach wine reached distinction internationally in 1898 when Frédéric Emile Trimbach received the highest rating at the International Wine Fair in Brussels.  The winery’s success is due to the estate’s Clos Sainte Hune vineyard from which 8,000 bottles are produced from the 1.67 hectare plot.
