Montinore estate vineyard, Willamette Valley, Oregon

Montinore Estate is the largest producer in the U.S. of certified estate wines made from Biodynamic grapes.  The winery has over 200 acres of certified vineyards.  They produce Pinot Noirs, cool climate whites like Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau, and Muscat, and Italian varietals such as Teroldego and Lagrein.  They are located in the northern Willamette Valley.  Over the years, more than 30 of their wines have received 90+ scores.

The winery was established in 1982 and is currently owned by Rudy Marchesi.  His career in the wine business began in New Jersey where he made wine and distributed these New Jersey wines on the East Coast.  When he expanded his wine portfolio beyond New Jersey wines, he chose Oregon wines.  After becoming more immersed in Oregon wines, he decided to move his family to Oregon.  In 1998, he started working for Montinore Estate overseeing operations and serving as a vineyard consultant.  He became the owner of the estate in 2005.  He has been recognized for his dedication to biodynamic farming.  Last year, Rudy passed the reins to his daughter Kristin by naming her president of the company.  Rudy will remain as a partner and will continue working with head winemaker, Stephen Webber and viticulturist, Karen Peterson.
